*here comes complaints*
It was okay for the very *first* Dot-Con.
The only thing I'd have to say is that it was too expensive. This con was small.
$45 for the whole weekend? That's almost as much as Anime North, and that's 3 days, and there's so much more to do. Not to mention that it's much bigger.
The panels seemed a bit unorganized, and at times for me, it got rather boring. Everytime I walked into an event, they were either running behind or didn't know what was happening.
I could have gotten in for free (I wouldn't have not payed. I'm just saying) because no one checked my wristband once.
I also found that the hotel staff was extremely rude.
My friends and I got kicked out of many places and we were told we couldn't listen to music.
We couldn't sit down anywhere without them asking us to move, even if we weren't in the way of people.
One man said, and I quote, "You people aren't the only ones in this hotel."
Well, OBVIOUSLY. But no one was complaining.
Ugh. 'You people'?
They treated us like we weren't normal (Okay, well we weren't dressed normally-- but at least have the decency to talk to us like normal people) and they just seemed annoyed that we were there just trying to have a good time.
The only place we could sit without being bothered was this little room in the basement with a few chairs and couches. I don't know if they noticed there wasn't enough room for everyone at the con to sit there or what >_>
(Has that ever happened to anyone? experiences with rude staff while cosplaying? D< )
But I do admire that the people there were working hard to make it fun for everyone. It was pretty fun at times.
Anyway! Negatives aside. It was nice seeing people again and hanging out with everyone!
There were many good cosplayers. Unfortunatley, I didn't get many pictures. D:
But I did get many pictures and hugs from other people xD;
(I was cloaked KH II Riku)
Ah, I'm not sure if I will attend dot-con next year. Maybe I will.
But I think I would like to wait until they move to a new location and more people know about it.

At the Animethon here in Edmonton they treat us cosplayers like 5 year olds. And it's at Edmonton's only big cosplay/ anime event! They won't let you in with ANY sort of weapon plastic or not. It has to be made out of cardboard and your not aloud to do any fake fights outside of the building. Just for photo's or anything, it's completley against their "rules".
I also find the staff at a few of our smaller cosplay events to be quite rude also. AND THEY'RE YOUNGER THAN ME!!! They treat everyone like we're morons. And that doesn't fly with me my friend [link].
I'd just give them a rude look and depending on my mood a) calmly get out of there before I say something I'll regret or b) talk back to them in the most sugary sweet poliet way I can muster.
I just don't think that staff at these things should be rude to us cosplayers. Not saying you should stoop to their level and be super rude back. But no matter who they are staff or not you should never just take that kind of rudeness from them!
Not saying that you did or anything don't take it the wrong way! I'm just saying that cosplayers or not we're people to and as such we should be shown the same respect by others.
Ya that's my rant for the day XD
like what was his problem??...<.<.....>.>....we so could have taken him on xDDD
..
but the little room was fun in my opinion :3
We have a yearly small Doujin event in a hotel here, but they've always been really lovely and accomodating to us =/
but don't get me wrong I still had a good time!
Ya, the little room was fun XD I just don't see how they expected everyone to sit in there lol
